Sailing: School Sailing Teams

Local high school and middle school teams sail here.

The Northern Vermont High School Sailing Team (NVHSST), the only high school sailing team in Vermont, was established in 1997. All interested high school students that have sailing experience and are in good standing at their school or home school are welcome as team members. NVHSST offers sailors the chance to fine-tune their skills during regular team practices and compete in regattas throughout New England.

Middle School Sailing at the CSC provides an introduction to keelboat match racing in the Spring and fundamentals of dinghy racing in the Fall. Any Middle School age student is welcome to enroll. Sailors will learn effective on-the-water communication and understand the value of collaborating as a crew and within a racing team.

High School Sailing

The team practices three to five days a week after school, with weekend regattas both at home and away. We sail and compete in both the spring and the fall. The CSC provides C420 sailboats, access to the water, coaching, PFDs (although most sailors prefer to have their own), scholarships, and facilities.

Current participating schools include: Champlain Valley Union HS, Burlington HS, Essex HS, Rice HS, South Burlington HS and Mount Abraham Union HS. However, participants can register from any school in Vermont.
